MSR Electronics has just released the MSR175plus, featuring a GPS receiver, to its range of Transportation Data Loggers. The MSR175plus not only captures potentially damaging shock and climatic events but also the geographical position of the event, thus ensuring compliance with transport specifications and providing valuable data for identifying liability in the event of damage.
The MSR175plus has two 3-axis accelerometers: ±200g measurement rate 6400Hz and ±15g measurement rate 1600Hz. There is no longer the need to select which accelerometer to use since both are automatically set, allowing the simultaneous recording of both ranges. This is particularly useful in applications where it is not clear what size of shock a shipment may experience.
The MSR175plus data logger’s memory is capable of storing over 4 million readings which is enough to record over 1000 shocks/impact events. In addition, the rugged data logger measures and stores temperature, humidity, air pressure and light trends. The MSR175plus has a rechargeable 2400 mAh LiPo battery, which provides enough power to the logger to operate for approximately 8 weeks with activated GPS tracking and at least 1 year without GPS. The logger is IP65 rated.
